Location
Our hotel is situated in a quiet valley, one and a half miles outside of Ilfracombe on the North Devon coast. It is found on the A361 as it approaches Ilfracombe from Barnstaple. The A361 is a direct link to the M5 - Junction 27.

Travelling by Road
|
|
|
You can travel to North Devon by exiting from the M5 at junction 27 (Tiverton). At this stage take the A361 heading for Barnstaple. Staying on the A361 pass through Barnstaple, Braunton and head towards Ilfracombe. Twelve miles outside of Barnstaple you will come to the Mullacott Cross roundabout. Go straight over and descend towards Ilfracombe. After about 1/3 mile you should see the hotel signs on the right hand side. The hotel entrance drive is on the right hand side fifty yards after the first sign so please be sure to slow down and indicate after the first sign.
Obtain a detailed map from your departure point by visiting the AA or RAC sites.

Alternative Route Travelling From London & South East

| The M4 route out of London and picking up the M5 at Bristol is the usual route from London. However you can encounter congestion on the M4 and delays from perennial road works on the M5 near Bristol. An alternative route worth considering is the M3 / A303 / A358 picking up the M5 at junction 25 (Taunton) and then proceeding as above. |
Avoiding Barnstaple At Rush Hour

| Yes, we do have rush hour congestion in the West Country but not as you know it! Avoiding Barnstaple between 4 pm. and 6 pm. mid-week is a good idea. After passing the signs for South Molton on the A361 you will come to a roundabout with a Little Chef (yes we have them too!). Take the A399 signposted as an alternative route to Ilfracombe / Woolacombe. Continue on the A399, five miles after Blackmoor Gate there is a junction with the A3123. Take this road, signposted to Woolacombe, which eventually joins the A361 at Mullacott Cross. Then proceed as above.

Travelling By Rail or Coach
|
|
| The nearest mainline station is Exeter, on the Great Western Railways line from Paddington Station. The Tarka Line - Wessex Trains, connects Exeter to Barnstaple. Thereafter you can organise taxis or a minibus for groups (please see below) or regular bus from Barnstaple to the hotel in Ilfracombe. Avoid using the taxis at the station rank as they can be very expensive.
National Express run coach services from all over the UK directly to Ilfracombe or Barnstaple. We can arrange for taxis to meet your coach (please see below).
